Large hand made porcelain ceramic mugs inspired by the Raktajino mugs in Star Trek Deep Space Nine. These pink ones are a happy accident - I'm working on making burgundy slip but the colour keeps burning out in the high temperatures of the kiln, leaving this nice mauve colour. Rather than waste them, I'm offering them at a discount.
The process goes: mould designed with CAD, 3D resin printed, silicone casing cast from the 3D print, plaster mould cast in the silicone and finally porcelain cast in the plaster mould. The design and mould making process alone took 6 months to perfect, and there are still some refinements I would like to make.
The mugs hold approximately 500ml (18oz), and keep your drink warm for longer as they are narrower at the top. Please note that they are not a direct copy or replica of the original ones in Star Trek, they have been recreated from the ground up using pictures and so the measurements are not quite the same.
