It’s been a long road…

Ok, not the most famous of Star Trek theme songs (and probably everyone’s least favourite) - but we recently rewatched Enterprise and really enjoyed it. We’re on a mission at the moment to rewatch all the series, in no particular order. Currently we’re nearly halfway through DS9 and it’s an opportune time to say “I’ve FINALLY perfected the Raktajino mugs and glazes!”.

It really has been a long road, getting from there to here. Over 2 years in fact, and I nearly gave up along the way after a run of failed glazes, cracked mugs, warped mould and finicky slip. Sheer determination has seen us through, as I REALLY wanted to have a perfect giant red Raktajino mug to drink my morning bucket of coffee out of!

I’ve recently set up a new shop to indulge my love of nerdy and geeky things, and I make all manner of unofficial game, sci-fi and cult movie inspired gifts, from mugs to hats to hoodies, printed and embroidered. I’m hoping to populate it with more handmade unique ceramics with your favourite logos and brands on, but there are just not enough hours in the day so it’s been slow going! There will probably be a transition on this site away from dinnerware and towards nerdy giftware, but it will again, ‘be a long road’, and I’ll never take the existing range away, so don’t fear that you won’t be able to get replacements if you break a piece!

Anyway, if you want a Raktajino, head on over to the shop here, we have both Big Red and Little Blue at the moment, with plans to make ‘Replicator Green’ in the future. We may even make a range of dinnerware based on the blue ones that come out of the Replimat (sqare sided mugs and octagonal sided bowls) if there’s enough demand for them!

Here’s a little video (2 mins) of the Raktajino making process. Production is limited as it’s only little old me making them at the moment, so we do apologise for the high cost and low availability!
